KERFNEST · LINEAR CUTTING PLANNER

Make more from each length.

Support for KerfNest, the iPhone planner for stock lengths, parts and cutting progress.

Your first plan

  1. Create a project and choose millimeters or decimal inches.
  2. Enter the stock length and saw kerf. All stock in a project uses that length.
  3. Add each named part, its length and quantity.
  4. Open Cut plan to see the stock allocation, finished pieces, offcuts and kerf loss.
  5. Tap a piece to mark it as made. Projects and progress remain saved when you reopen the app.

Understanding the result

KerfNest uses best-fit decreasing. The result is a practical estimate, not a guarantee of the fewest stock lengths. A separating kerf is included for each part unless the part exactly fills the remaining stock. Diagram separators are not scaled kerfs; use the listed totals.

Use up to three decimal places, 100 part types and 500 pieces per project. Unit changes reinterpret numbers; they do not convert them. This app plans linear material, not two-dimensional sheets.

Editing and keeping progress

Changes to material settings or parts clear completion marks so marks cannot refer to an outdated plan. Duplicating a project keeps its settings and parts but starts with no pieces marked. Share plan creates text through the iPhone share sheet.

Saved data

Projects are stored on your iPhone. The native planner has no account or developer-operated cloud synchronization and does not upload your cutting plans. System backups may include app data. Delete a project from the project list with confirmation. If saving fails, the app keeps the previous saved file; free device storage and try again.

Online configuration in version 1.0.2, build 5

The new version includes automatic signed configuration checks when the app opens or returns to the foreground, even when no online destination is enabled. A valid configuration for the exact app version and build can display a configured HTTPS website inside the app. While that destination is active, configuration is periodically renewed, normally within 48 seconds. The background transition stops the renewal tasks.

Disabled, empty, invalid, expired or unavailable configuration leaves the native planner available, including without a network connection. This release does not supply or enable a destination website. The same configuration behavior applies during review and after release; it is not a review-only switch.

Configuration requests do not contain your projects, but the hosting and Cloudflare services process network and security information. An enabled website can also use WebKit's persistent website storage and its own services. Read the privacy policy for these distinctions.

The previously distributed version 1.0.1 does not make these runtime configuration requests. The new behavior described here applies to version 1.0.2 (build 5); updating this support page does not change an installed earlier version.
